Warren Buffett, the most pragmatic and numbers-based investor of our time, says that newspapers are valuable advertising media. He must be really sure about that because he recently spent $142 million for 63 newspapers.
Buffet is quoted via The Daily Beast saying only some kinds of papers are valuable. They have to serve smaller markets where there is â€œmore of a feeling of community.â€
I write routinely about the value of building your digital media assets. But let’s not forget there are exceptions to every rule. If you are in a smaller town, or have a paper that serves a specific community, then newspapers are likely a good buy for you and Warren Buffett.
